Moroccan Darija · verb
“n9el” (نقل) is a verb in Moroccan Darija meaning to copy, copy out (a text).
Meanings
- to copy, copy out (a text)
- to cheat, copy from someone
- to transport, transfer
Usage
In everyday language, n9el mainly means "to copy out": n9el d-dars, "copy out the lesson". With men, it means "to copy from someone", that is, to cheat on an exam: n9el menni, "he copied from me". It also keeps the sense of "to transport" or "to move" objects or people. For a job transfer, the passive form tna9el or t9el ("to be transferred") is used instead. The noun n-na9l means transport. The verb is used in all registers.
