Moroccan Darija · adjective

“nachef” (ناشف) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning dry.

Meanings

  1. dry
  2. stubborn (ras nachef)

Usage

NacheF means "dry". It is said of laundry, stale bread, the weather or land without rain. The feminine is nachfa and the plural is nachfin. The corresponding verb is nchef, "to dry". Figuratively, the expression rasso nachef, literally "his head is dry", describes a stubborn person who doesn't listen to advice. Applied to bread or meat, the word indicates food that has dried out and is therefore unappetizing. Do not confuse it with nachT, "in a good mood", which sounds similar.
