Meanings

  1. to go down, get off
  2. to fall (rain)
  3. to stay at someone's place

Usage

Nzel (imperfect yenzel) means "to go down": from an upper floor, off a vehicle, or towards the city centre. Examples: nzel mn tobis, "get off the bus"; nzelt l-mdina, "I went down to town". It is also used for rain (nzlat chta, "it rained") and for staying with someone (nzel 3end khalto, "he stayed at his aunt's"). The doubled-consonant form nezzel is transitive: "to bring down, drop off, lower". Online, nezzel is often written like nzel, which explains the sense "to put down the goods" in one of the sentences collected.
