oktobr means the month of October. In Morocco, the names of the Gregorian calendar months follow the French form, adapted to local pronunciation: oktobr, nonbr, dujanbr. They therefore differ from the names used in the Middle East. In speech, many people simply say the French word or refer to the month by its number: chher 10 or chher l-3achr, "the tenth month". This way of counting is very common for dates. The word stays masculine and is used without an article in a date: f oktobr, "in October".
