osbou3i أُسبوعي
Moroccan Darija · adjective
“osbou3i” (أُسبوعي) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning weekly.
Meanings
- weekly
Usage
Osbou3i is a Standard Arabic word, used in darija mainly in fixed expressions: l3otla losbou3iya, "the weekly day off", or the weekly market. The feminine osbou3iya is therefore the most common form. In everyday conversation this adjective is often avoided. People say kol simana or dyal kol simana instead: khlass dyal kol simana, "a weekly wage". The word simana, "week", is also more common than osbou3 in speech. Osbou3i remains somewhat formal or media-like in register.
Example
العطلة الأسبوعية ديالي نهار الحد
l3otla losbou3iya dyali nhar l7ed
“My weekly day off is Sunday.”
