partaja پارتاجا

Moroccan Darija · verb

“partaja” (پارتاجا) is a verb in Moroccan Darija meaning to share (on social media).

Meanings

  1. to share (on social media)
  2. to share, divide up

Usage

Partaja is a borrowing from French "partager", adapted to darija conjugation. One says partaja in the past, kaypartaji in the present and partaji in the imperative. It is very common on social media: "partajiw l-video" (share the video), "3afak partaji" (share, please). For sharing in the sense of dividing up, the Arabic verb qsem remains more natural. This word belongs to the colloquial and digital register.

Example

پارتاجيو الفيديو باش يوصل لبزاف ديال الناس

partajiw l-video bach ywsel l bzaf dyal nnas

“Share the video so that it reaches a lot of people.”
