raje3 راجع

Moroccan Darija · verb

“raje3” (راجع) is a verb in Moroccan Darija meaning returning, on the way back.

Meanings

  1. returning, on the way back
  2. review, reconsider (imperative)

Usage

Raje3 is first of all the active participle of rje3 ("to come back"). It expresses an action in progress or about to happen: ana raje3 means "I'm coming back" or "I'm on my way back". It agrees in gender and number: raj3a for the feminine, raj3in for the plural. The same form is also the imperative of raje3, "to review, go over, reconsider", heard in phrases such as raje3 rasek, "take a hard look at yourself". Only context distinguishes the two uses. Pitfall: raje3 in the sense of "returning" does not mark the past, but an action in progress.
