raw3a روعة

Moroccan Darija · adjective

“raw3a” (روعة) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning magnificent, superb.

Meanings

  1. magnificent, superb
  2. splendor, wonder

Usage

Raw3a is originally a noun ("splendor"), but it is used mainly as an invariable adjective or as an exclamation to say that something is superb: had lblasa raw3a, "this place is magnificent". It is very common in online comments, alone (raw3a!) or intensified (raw3a bzaf). Its register is slightly more refined than informal equivalents like zwin or na9i. It does not agree: raw3a is used for a man, a woman or a thing. It is rarely used for people, more for places, songs, photos or dishes.

Example

هاد الغنية روعة

had lghnia raw3a

“This song is magnificent.”
