rda رضا

Moroccan Darija · verb

“rda” (رضا) is a verb in Moroccan Darija meaning to be satisfied, settle for.

Meanings

  1. to be satisfied, settle for
  2. to accept, consent
  3. to bless, approve of (parents, God)

Usage

Rda (imperfect form: yrda) is most often constructed with b: "rda b chi haja" ("to settle for something, to accept it"). With 3la, it expresses approval or blessing: "lwalidin rdaw 3lih" ("his parents blessed him"). In the negative, "ma rdach" means "he refused, he did not agree". The corresponding noun, rda, is very common in the expression "rdat lwalidin", which refers to the parents' blessing, a central value in Moroccan culture. The pitfall is to retain only the idea of "satisfaction". The verb often implies consent, or a resigned acceptance.

Example

ما رضاش بالثمن اللي عطيتو
