“sadaqa” (صداقة) is a noun in Moroccan Darija meaning friendship.
Meanings
- friendship
Usage
Sadaqa means friendship. The word is understood by everyone and is in common use, but it keeps a somewhat formal tone, close to standard Arabic. You hear it in phrases like "s-sadaqa dyalna" (our friendship) or in discussions about the value of friendship. In casual conversation, s7ubiya or a phrase with s7ab (friend) is often preferred: "7na s7ab" (we are friends). It should not be confused with sadaqa in the sense of alms, which is written with a different emphatic s.
Example
الصداقة ديالنا قديمة بزاف
ssadaqa dyalna 9dima bzzaf
“Our friendship is very old.”
