sensla سنسلة

Moroccan Darija · noun

“sensla” (سنسلة) is a noun in Moroccan Darija meaning chain.

Meanings

  1. chain
  2. small chain, necklace

Usage

Sensla (or selsla) refers first of all to a metal chain: that of a bicycle, a gate or a tethered dog. It also refers to the small chain worn around the neck, often in gold: sensla dyal dheb. The plural is snasel. The word is feminine: sensla zwina. It should not be confused with the bead necklace or the traditional necklace, which have other names. Figuratively, it can suggest a series or sequence, but this sense is less common than the concrete one.
