Meanings

Usage
Siyyed means to fish or to hunt, that is, to catch an animal, most often fish. In the present you say "kansiyyed" (I fish) and "mcha isiyyed" (he went fishing). The object can be specified: "siyyed l7ut" (to fish for fish). The noun for the activity is "sid" or "sayd", and the person who does it is a "siyyad" (fisherman or hunter, depending on context). In informal speech the verb is also used figuratively for "to trap" or "to catch" someone, for example catching a fraudster in the act. Context shows whether fishing or hunting is meant.
