stalem ستالم
Moroccan Darija · verb
“stalem” (ستالم) is a verb in Moroccan Darija meaning to receive, take receipt of.
Meanings
- to receive, take receipt of
- to take delivery of
Usage
Stalem means to receive or take receipt of an item handed to you: a parcel, a document, a sum of money. It belongs to a somewhat formal or administrative register, but is commonly heard for deliveries and paperwork. The object follows the verb directly, with no preposition: stalemt lcolis, "I received the parcel". For "receive" in the broad sense, everyday speech tends to use wsel ("arrive") or khda ("take"). It is not used for receiving guests; for that, say stqbel.
