Usage
Stel is the bucket, an everyday object used for housework, at the hammam or for carrying water. It is masculine; the usual plural is stoula. People say "stel d lma" (a bucket of water), "3mmer stel" (fill the bucket). At the hammam, "stel" is also the name of the container in which hot and cold water are mixed. The root is found in msettel, a colloquial word for someone dazed or a bit crazy; but stel itself is mostly used in the concrete sense of bucket. Beware that Latin spellings vary widely.
