Meanings

  1. blood pressure, hypertension

Usage

Tansio is a borrowing adapted from French "tension". It is very common in Morocco. In its primary sense it means blood pressure, most often high blood pressure: 3ndo tansio, "he has high blood pressure". For pressure that is too high, one says tansio tal3a, and for pressure that is too low, tansio habta. By extension, the word means stress or getting worked up: tal3 lih tansio, "he got worked up". Be careful not to use it for political tension or tension between people: other expressions are used then.
