tla9a تلاقا

Moroccan Darija · verb

“tla9a” (تلاقا) is a verb in Moroccan Darija meaning meet, get together.

Meanings

  1. meet, get together
  2. run into someone

Usage

The verb tla9a means to meet someone or to get together with them. It takes m3a: tla9a m3a (to meet). It can be a planned meeting or a chance encounter. In the plural, tla9aw means "they met". The register is everyday. It should be distinguished from l9a, which means to find something. Also avoid confusion with tla9a 3la, a construction that is not used in this sense. In the present, one says kantla9a; in the subjunctive, ntla9a, for example in bghit ntla9a m3ak (I want to see you).
