tsjil تسجيل
Moroccan Darija · noun
“tsjil” (تسجيل) is a noun in Moroccan Darija meaning recording (audio, video).
Meanings
- recording (audio, video)
- registration, enrollment
Usage
Tsjil has two common uses. First, it refers to an audio or video recording: "3ndi tsjil dyalo" (I have a recording of him), notably voice messages. It also refers to enrollment in a school, university or administration, in the sense of an official procedure. The corresponding verb is sejjel (to record, to register). The register is neutral. In school and administrative contexts, many Moroccans also say "l'inscription" in French. Context is enough to tell the two senses apart.
Example
صيفط ليا التسجيل فالواتساب
sifet lia tsjil f whatsapp
“Send me the recording on WhatsApp.”
