ttalt التالت
Moroccan Darija · numeral
“ttalt” (التالت) is a numeral in Moroccan Darija meaning third.
Meanings
- third
Usage
Ttalt is the ordinal corresponding to tlata (three). It is used with the article and after a noun that is also definite: ttabe9 ttalt (the third floor), lwald ttalt (the third child). The feminine is ttalta: lmerra ttalta (the third time). Be careful not to confuse ttalt with ttlat (Tuesday) or with tult (a third). The difference lies in the placement of the vowels, and arabizi does not always mark it clearly, so context is often what settles it.
Example
ساكن فالطابق التالت
saken f ttabe9 ttalt
“I live on the third floor.”
