Meanings

  1. realistic, down-to-earth
  2. real, factual

Usage

Wa9i3i is an adjective borrowed from standard Arabic. It is heard mostly in fairly elevated conversation: discussions about studies, work, politics or future plans. It describes a clear-sighted person (rak wa9i3i, "you are realistic") or a real fact, as opposed to something imaginary. The feminine is wa9i3iya and the plural is wa9i3iyin. Negation uses machi: machi wa9i3i. In very casual speech, expressions such as 3a9el or kayfhem are often preferred, as they are more natural than this learned word.
