wsada وسادة
Moroccan Darija · noun
“wsada” (وسادة) is a noun in Moroccan Darija meaning cushion.
Meanings
- cushion
- pillow
Usage
Wsada means a cushion, especially the ones that line the benches of a Moroccan living room, or a pillow. The common plural is wsayed. For a bed pillow, many Moroccans say mkhedda instead. Wsada is then used more for living-room cushions or in a slightly more refined register. For example: bdel lghlaf dyal lwsada (change the cushion cover). Remember the difference between the two words: mkhedda for the bed pillow, wsada mainly for the cushion.
Example
حط الوسادة مور ظهرك باش ترتاح
7et lwsada mor dahrek bach tertah
“Put the cushion behind your back to be comfortable.”
