Usage
Yulyuz is the name of the month of July in the Gregorian calendar as it is said in Morocco. The form is distinct from the Mashreq "tammuz" and from French "juillet", although the latter is also heard in cities. It is used with or without the article: "f yulyuz" (in July), "shhar yulyuz" (the month of July). Moroccans also often refer to months by number: "shhar sb3a" (the month seven), meaning July. It is the summer holiday period and the time when the MRE (Moroccans living abroad) come home.
