7adhart حضرت

Tunisian Derja · verb

“7adhart” (حضرت) is a verb in Tunisian Derja meaning I prepared / she prepared.

Meanings

  1. I prepared / she prepared
  2. I attended / she attended

Usage

This spelling is a conjugated form, made ambiguous by Arabic writing without vowels. With the doubled consonant, 7adhart comes from "7adhar" (to prepare): "7adhart el makla" (I prepared the meal), "7adhart rou7i" (I got myself ready). Without doubling, 7dhart comes from "7dhar" (to be present, to attend): "7dhart fil 3ers" (I attended the wedding). The same form serves for the first person and for the third person feminine ("7adhret"). Only context can tell the two verbs apart.
