Tunisian Derja · adjective

“9assed” (قاصد) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning acting on purpose, intentionally.

Meanings

  1. acting on purpose, intentionally
  2. heading toward, aiming at

Usage

9assed (feminine 9asda, plural 9asdin) describes a person who acts deliberately. It is very frequent in the negative as an apology: ma kontech 9assed, "I didn't do it on purpose". It can take a complement: 9assed bih ("you're aiming at that"), 9assed rabbi ("someone who goes his own way honestly, to earn a living"). Since it is a participle, it agrees with the subject and is used without the verb "to be". Note that at the start of a sentence it does not mean "directly". Common register, across all generations.

Example

سامحني، ما كنتش قاصد

Sam7ni, ma kontech 9assed
