9iyema قيامة
Tunisian Derja · noun
“9iyema” (قيامة) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning Day of Judgment, resurrection.
Meanings
- Day of Judgment, resurrection
- uproar, chaos
- recovery (negated: never recover)
Usage
9iyema refers to the Day of Judgment, as in "nhar el 9iyema". Figuratively, it appears in very vivid expressions: "9amet el 9iyema" (it was panic, a big commotion), "9ayyemha 9iyema" (he made a scandal). With a negation, "ma ta9oumlou 9iyema" means he will never recover from it, that he is finished, and this applies to a person, a country, or an object. An English speaker should not take it literally: most often the word expresses exaggeration or anger. It belongs to the informal, expressive register.
Example

ki 3raf bel 7kaya 9amet el 9iyema fel dar.
