amsat امسط
Tunisian Derja · adjective
“amsat” (امسط) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning blander, more tasteless.
Meanings
- blander, more tasteless
- lamer, more tiresome (person)
Usage
Amsat is the comparative and superlative of masset, "bland, tasteless", said of a dish that is not salty enough. Applied to a person, masset describes them as dull, witless, tiresome or ridiculous, and amsat is used mostly in this sense: amsat menou (even lamer than him), amsat wa7ed (the lamest of all). The construction follows that of comparatives: amsat + min to compare, amsat + noun for the superlative. The tone is mocking and informal, common in comments about celebrities or politicians; it is a harsh criticism but not a vulgarity.
Example
البرنامج هذا أمسط من اللي قبلو
el barnamej hedha amsat mil li 9ablou
“This show is even blander than the one before it.”
