Tunisian Derja · adjective

“askhen” (اسخن) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning hotter, warmer.

Meanings

  1. hotter, warmer

Usage

Askhen is the comparative of skhoun (hot). It is invariable: it does not agree in gender or number, like the other comparatives of the af3al form. It is used mostly for the weather, but also for water, a dish or an object. The complement is introduced by "min": "askhen mil bere7" (hotter than yesterday). With "chwaya" it is softened: "askhen chwaya" (a bit hotter). Used with the article and followed by a noun, it takes on a superlative sense: "askhen nhar" (the hottest day). The meaning is literal; it is not used figuratively for a person.

lyoum askhen mil bere7 barcha.
