Usage
In Tunisia, the months of the Gregorian calendar are commonly called by their French-origin names, adapted to local pronunciation. Afril (or avril) is the normal spoken form, far more common than the standard Arabic month names. One says "fi afril" for "in April" and puts the number before the month: "3echrin afril", the twentieth of April. The word is used without an article. In written Arabic it appears as أفريل, which is also the official Tunisian spelling.
