bark برك
Tunisian Derja · adverb
“bark” (برك) is an adverb in Tunisian Derja meaning only, just.
Meanings
- only, just
- that's all, enough
Usage
Brk is one of the most frequent words in Tunisian. It comes after the word it limits: "kas 9ahwa brk" (just a coffee), "chhar brk" (only a month). At the end of a sentence, it means "that's all" or "nothing more": "n7eb nchouf brk" (I just want to look). It is also used to play something down or to reassure. Watch out: an English speaker tends to put it before the word, like "only" or "just". In Tunisian, it always comes after. Do not confuse it with barka, which means "enough, that's enough" or expresses a blessing.
Example
نحب قهوة برك
n7eb 9ahwa brk
“I just want a coffee.”
