bayen باين
Tunisian Derja · adjective
“bayen” (باين) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning visible, apparent.
Meanings
- visible, apparent
- obvious, clear
- it seems, apparently
Usage
Bayen means that something can be seen: "el ta3b bayen 3lih" (the tiredness shows on him). It also serves to say that something is obvious: "bayen!" (that's clear!, obviously). The construction "bayen fih / bayen 3lih" expresses an impression: "bayen fih ghali" (it looks expensive). Used at the start of a sentence, it means "apparently, it seems that": "bayen ma yjich" (it seems he won't come). The feminine is bayna. For the negative, one says "mahouch bayen" (it doesn't show, it's not clear). Common register.
