Tunisian Derja · adverb
“belrasmi” (بالرسمي) is an adverb in Tunisian Derja meaning really, seriously.
Meanings
- really, seriously
- for real, officially
Usage
Bel rasmi is a very common adverb used to stress the sincerity or seriousness of what one says: bel rasmi ma fhemtech (honestly, I didn't understand). It readily goes at the start or end of a sentence and is often accompanied by wallah. It also means "for real", when a situation becomes serious or official: el 7kaya walet bel rasmi (the matter has become serious). The register is informal and very frequent among young people. The literal translation "officially" is misleading in most cases.
