Meanings

  1. slow-witted, dull
  2. heavy, witless, unfunny
  3. apathetic, sluggish

Usage

Bliid mostly describes someone who understands slowly or lacks sharpness. It is often heard about a pupil or a child (wild bliid, "a boy who is not very quick"), or about a person who hardly reacts. It can also target a heavy, witless joke or remark. It is a criticism, but a milder one than a real insult. The feminine is bliida. Not to be confused with bled or blad ("country, town"), which have a similar form. For the neutral sense of "bland" about a dish, msaas is used instead.
