Usage
Boussa is the usual word for a kiss, whether affectionate or romantic. It is given to children and close relatives, and is used a lot in writing at the end of messages: "boussa", "boussa kbira", "barcha bousset". The plural or a count is made with bousset ("zouz bousset", two kisses). The corresponding verb is bous ("bousni", he kissed me). The register is informal but not vulgar; in a romantic context, the word stays neutral. For the greeting kiss between adults, people often simply say "bousni" or speak of "bousset".
