chared شارد
Tunisian Derja · adjective
“chared” (شارد) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning absent-minded, lost in thought.
Meanings
- absent-minded, lost in thought
- stray, runaway (animal)
Usage
Chared describes someone whose mind is elsewhere, absorbed in their worries or daydreams, not listening to what you say. It's often heard in "3lech chared?" (what are you thinking about?) or paired with "mghamoum" (worried). The feminine is charda. In the literal sense, rarer in cities, it refers to an animal that has escaped or wanders far from the herd. It doesn't mean "crazy": it expresses a passing absence, often linked to sadness or worry.
Example
