Dirasa comes from standard Arabic but is commonly used in Tunisia, especially in a somewhat formal, administrative or media register. It refers to the school or university curriculum (« el 3am e-dirasi », the school year) or a study carried out on a subject (« 3mal dirasa », to do a study).
