Usage
Fassa5 is the common verb for "to erase": what is written on the board, in pencil, or a message on the phone. It is also used for deleting a photo, a file or a number. It is also used for cancelling a contract or an agreement: fassa5 el contrat, "he terminated the contract". Figuratively, fassa5 elli t3adda means "to turn the page, to forget the past". The object follows the verb directly. The passive or intransitive form is tfassa5 ("to be erased, to be deleted"). Pitfall: fassa5 does not mean "to undo" in the sense of detaching or untying.
