hazez هازز

Tunisian Derja · adjective

“hazez” (هازز) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning carrying, having on oneself.

Meanings

  1. carrying, having on oneself
  2. having taken along

Usage

Hazez is the active participle of the verb "hezz" (to carry, take, bring along). It describes a state: having something with you or on you. The most frequent construction is "hazez m3ak… ?" (do you have … on you? did you bring …?), for example about papers or money. The feminine is "hazza" and the plural "hazzin". This participle often has a present or resulting-state value where French uses a passé composé: "hazez el mfete7" translates as "I have taken the keys", not "I am carrying the keys".

Example

إنت هازز معاك الكارت؟

enti hazez m3ak el carte?

“Do you have your card on you?”
