Meanings

Usage

Hedhiya is an emphatic form of the feminine demonstrative hedhi, "this one". It is also used for a situation or a fact, in the sense of "that": hedhiya elli nhebbha, "that's what I want". It takes feminine agreement even where English would say "that" or "this". Before a noun, hedhi is used instead, as in hedhi el karhba. Hedhiya is common in speech, in all registers.
