Tunisian Derja · pronoun

“hedhouma” (هاذوما) is a pronoun in Tunisian Derja meaning these (ones); these.

Meanings

  1. these (ones); these

Usage

"Hedhouma" is the plural demonstrative of proximity, used for both masculine and feminine. It can stand alone, "hedhouma s7abi" (these are my friends), or with a noun. In that case it often follows the definite noun, "el-7wayej hedhouma" (these things), or precedes it, "hedhouma el-wlad" (these boys). The short form "hedhom" is just as common. For distance, one says "hedhoukom" (those). French speakers tend to forget the article: one says "el-ktob hedhouma", not "ktob hedhouma".
