hna هنا
Tunisian Derja · adverb
“hna” (هنا) is an adverb in Tunisian Derja meaning here.
Meanings
- here
Usage
Hna means "here". It is often combined with prepositions: "men hna" (from here, this way), "lehna" (up to here, to here). It is sometimes pronounced "hné". The expression "hna w ghadi" means "here and there". Beware of two pitfalls. First, do not confuse it with "a7na" (we), written with a 7. Second, the phrase "bel hna" comes from a different word: it relates to well-being and is used to wish someone "bon appétit" or "cheers". This last meaning explains the English gloss "congratulate".
