Usage

Most often, jari means "my neighbour": it is jar (neighbour) followed by the possessive suffix -i. The feminine is jarti (my female neighbour). The same word, pronounced jeri, is also the participle of jra (to run): it then means "running" or "ongoing". It is heard in mazal jari (it's still ongoing) or in ma jeri (running water).
