jwilya جويلية
Tunisian Derja · noun
“jwilya” (جويلية) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning July, seventh month of the year.
Meanings
- July, seventh month of the year
Usage
In Tunisia, the months are named with the series of French origin: jenfi, fifri, mars, avril, mai, juan, jwilya, out, etc. Jwilya is therefore the normal word for "July", in speech as well as in administration and the media. The names derived from Syriac, used in the Mashriq, are not in use here, and the simple month number is used mainly in written dates. For a date, one says "nhar wa7ed jwilya" (the first of July) or "fi jwilya" (in July). It is a month associated with holidays, weddings and the return of families living abroad.
Example
نرجعو لتونس في جويلية.
