Usage
Kaghedh is the common Tunisian word for "paper". It is used for the material (kaghedh) or for a specific sheet (wra9a or terf kaghedh, "a scrap of paper"). In the plural, kwaghedh or lkwaghedh often refers to administrative papers: wajjed kwaghdek, "get your papers ready". It is also used for wrapping paper (kaghedh ta3 tasfi). Pronunciation varies between ghayn and 9af depending on the region, and the final consonant is heard as d, dh or t, hence the many spellings. In this sense, the standard word wara9 sounds bookish.
