kaza كاذا
Tunisian Derja · expression
“kaza” (كاذا) is an expression in Tunisian Derja meaning and so on, etc..
Meanings
- and so on, etc.
- like that, sort of
- such and such
Usage
Kaza is used to shorten a list or an account: w kaza, "and all that, and so on". In speech it is also used as a filler word, a bit like "like" or "sort of" in casual English. Among young people these are verbal tics. Kaza can also replace a detail left unspecified: 9alli kaza w kaza, "he told me this and that". The register is informal. Pitfall: do not confuse it with the kaza of standard Arabic ("thus"), which is more formal and rare in conversation.
Example
مشينا للبحر و كلينا و كذا
mchina lel b7ar w klina w kaza
“We went to the beach, we ate, and all that.”
