kbed كبد
Tunisian Derja · noun
“kbed” (كبد) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning liver (organ).
Meanings
- liver (organ)
- darling, beloved child (affectionate)
Usage
Kbed refers to the liver, both in humans and in cooking. One can speak, for example, of a liver disease. For liver sold at the butcher's, kebda is also used. In the affectionate sense, kebdi, "my liver", is addressed to a child or a very dear person: the liver is seen as the seat of tenderness, where French would say "mon cœur" (my heart). A mother will say ya kebdi to her son. This sense should therefore not be translated word for word.

3andou mardh fel kbed
