khlit خليط
Tunisian Derja · noun
“khlit” (خليط) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning mixture, blended preparation.
Meanings
- mixture, blended preparation
- assortment of various things
Usage
Khlit refers to a mixture, especially in cooking: the preparation obtained by combining several ingredients, for example in a cake or stuffing recipe. One commonly says "el-khlit" with the article for the mixture being prepared, and distinguishes it from a second mixture with lawlani (the first) or ethéni (the second). The word is also used for any combination of different things, people or styles. The register is neutral. Note: in writing, "خليط" sometimes appears by mistake for khallit (I left). Only the context resolves the ambiguity.
Example
وتصبهم على الخليط الولاني
wtsobhom 3al elkhalit lawlani
“And you pour them onto the first mixture.”
