Usage
Makboub is the passive participle of the verb kabb, "to pour, to spill". Literally, it describes a liquid that has been spilled or poured: "el ma makboub 3al ard". The very common expression "makboub sa3dou" means "he has no luck", literally "his luck is spilled". It applies to a person and, by extension, to a price or situation that collapses. The register is informal. Caution: kabb does not mean "to throw away" in the sense of getting rid of something. It evokes the action of pouring out.
