“mazid” (مزيد) is an expression in Tunisian Derja meaning more (in wishes).

Meanings

  1. more (in wishes)
  2. further, more

Usage

The word mazid is used mainly in formulas of congratulation or encouragement. They are borrowed from Standard Arabic but are extremely common in Tunisia, in writing as well as in speech: mazid ennaja7, "more success", mazid ettaw9i9, mazid etta2ello9. They are often added after inchallah or mabrouk, under a post or at a graduation. Outside these formulas, to say "more" in ordinary conversation, people use zeyed or akthar, not mazid.

mabrouk, inchallah mazid mel naja7

“Congratulations, God willing, even more success.”
