Tunisian Derja · noun

“mezharia” (مزهرية) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning flower vase.

Meanings

  1. flower vase

Usage

Mezharia refers to the vase used for flowers, cut or artificial, placed on a table, sideboard or shelf. The word comes from the written language but is understood and used in Tunisia, especially in careful speech or when talking about interior decoration. In everyday conversation, many people also say "vaza", borrowed from Italian or French. The common plural is mezhriyet. It is used with el-ward (flowers): mezharia mta3 ward. The word does not apply to a purely ornamental vase without flowers, which is more readily called vaza.
