mna7i منحي

Tunisian Derja · adjective

“mna7i” (منحي) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning taken off, removed (clothing).

Meanings

  1. taken off, removed (clothing)
  2. removed, set aside

Usage

Mna77i is the passive participle of na77a, "to take off, remove". It applies first to clothing: mna77i es-sarwal, "the pants taken off", or mna77i el mrayel, "without her blouse". It can also describe an object removed from its place or a person removed from a post. It agrees: mna77ia in the feminine, mna77yin in the plural. Pitfall: in unvowelled writing, the same spelling can be read min7i, "my grant" in standard Arabic, unrelated to the Tunisian meaning.

Example

لقيتو منحّي صباطو في الدار

l9itou mna77i sabbatou fi eddar
