Usage
Mnah is a very common discourse marker in speech. It is used to rephrase, clarify, or correct what was just said, like "that is" or "I mean". It is also heard to draw a conclusion, in the sense of "so". It is the reduced form of ma3nèh ("its meaning"), which is also heard in full form with the same value. Informal register, mostly spoken. It can be placed freely in the sentence, often after a hesitation. The word carries little meaning of its own: in translation it can often be omitted or rendered by a simple pause.
